Fortex Filet

Early Jersey Wakefield

These summer harvest heritage, unique, pointed heads are medium size, tender, dark-green, fine-tasting,and loose leaves are great raw or sautéed. Early Jersey Wakefield cabbage seeds were in W.H. Steve Seed Catalogue published in Steveston, B.C. in 1890.

Ronde de Nice

A round French heirloom zucchini, grown for generations. Has succulent, tender flesh and is at its peak while the fruits are still less than 7.5cm (3") in diameter. The flesh of this zucchini is so tender that the fruits are prone to bruising, which is why it doesn't turn up in grocery stores.

Minnesota Midget Cantaloupe

This cute little  heirloom melon is about 10cm (4") across and weigh about a pound each.  These early sweet melons have thick, golden yellow flesh and, like other cantaloupes.

Taxi

Taxi is an attractive heirloom bright-yellow tomato that is early. The round, medium yellow fruit have a distinctive sweet flavour and are less acidic than red tomatoes. They are good for fresh eating and make a sweet spicey salsa with a unique look.

Varna

Varna is a summer leek. It’s white stalks are very slender 35cm (14") long with lighter green leaves and is very tender. Makes a wonderful potatoe leek soup or sauteed with peppers for a omelette!

Drunken Woman

This Italian Heirloom butterhead lettuce has large heads with the appearance of wild hair - ruffled savoyed leaves in bright green with a hint of pink at the leaf margins. Crisp, sweet, and makes a lovely salad with a olive oil balsamic dressing.

Polish Linguisa

tomatoes are delicious heirloom Romas which date back to the 1800s, and grow large, sausage-shaped fruits. The tomatoes are sweet, and bear 3-4 inch pointed red fruits 1-2 inches in diameter, meaty enough for saucing or drying, but good enough to eat sliced for salads or on sandwiches.

Yellow Pear

Yellow Pear Tomato are a wonderful heirloom variety. The pale-yellow, soft, mild tomatoes look just like miniature pears. Colourful in salads, sliced or in preserves. Fruit is sweetest when it just turns from yellow to light organge.

Lemon Cucumber

These attractive heritage cucumbers are small and round with lemon-coloured skin. The lime-green flesh is very mild, sweet, and never bitter.  This is a popular older variety developed before disease-resistant strains.
